Obama Needs Teleprompter To Express Concern About Fort Hood Shooting

11/08/2009

By Liz Rodriguez

After the president heard about the shooting at Fort Hood, he attended a previously scheduled speaking engagement with Native American leaders. While Obama was there, he first gave a “shout out” to the Congressional Medal Of Honor Winner who was really awarded the Medal of Freedom. Oops, no big deal. We all make mistakes. Please. I don’t understand the mentality of an American President who gives a “shout out” right before delivering his first statements after a terrorist attack on our military that killed 13.

After two minutes of BS, he spoke about the terror at Fort Hood which he referred to as a tragedy. While he was speaking about the shooting he had to look down at his teleprompter every few seconds. Obama actually needed his teleprompter to say his thoughts and prayers go out to the wounded and the families of the fallen.  He spoke with no compassion or passion about the shootings at Fort Hood.

Watch the video below.  Here is the text.

(looks down at teleprompter) “But as some of you might have heard there has been a tragic shooting (looks down at teleprompter) at the Fort Hood Army Base in Texas (looks down at teleprompter). We don’t yet know all the (looks down at teleprompter) details at this moment. (looks down at teleprompter) We will share them as we (looks down at teleprompter) get them. What we do know is that a (looks down at teleprompter) number of American soldiers have been killed and (looks down at teleprompter) even more have been wounded in a horrific outburst of violence. (looks down at teleprompter)

My immediate (looks down at teleprompter) thoughts and prayers are with the wounded and with the families of the fallen (looks down at teleprompter) and those who live and (looks down at teleprompter) serve at Ft. Hood. These are men and women (looks down at teleprompter) who have made the selfless and courageous decision (looks down at teleprompter) to risk and at times (looks down at teleprompter) give their lives to protect the rest of us on a daily basis (looks down at teleprompter). It’s difficult enough when we (looks down at teleprompter) lose these brave Americans in battles overseas. (looks down at teleprompter) It is horrifying that (looks down at teleprompter) they should come under fire at an army base on America soil.” (looks down at teleprompter)

I’ve spoken to secretary (looks down at teleprompter) Gates and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staffs (looks down at teleprompter) Admiral Mike Mullin”…..

It bothered me too that he couldn’t speak from his heart about the shooting.
