Why do liberal news anchors get away with making prejudiced comments? It’s almost like their nonchalant racism is so constant that their audience doesn’t even notice it anymore, blacks and whites alike. I admit the liberal media is good at dressing up racism with fluffy words, confidence, and children, but it’s still so apparent.
MSNBC’s Ed Schultz recently said (the full transcript and video are below),
I`ve often wondered, why doesn`t David Stern, who`s been the commissioner of the NBA for a long time, just put his foot down and say, “If you want to play in our league, you can`t own firearms. We are in the image business. We`re not in the thug business. We`re in the business of making sure that we send a good message to the youth of this country?
Really? I thought they were in the basketball business. It would be nice if all basketball players (and everyone else in the world) always tried to send a good message to the youth, but that’s not their job or responsibility as a basketball player. And owning guns is a constitutional right! No NBA commissioner can forbid their players to own guns. Ed Schultz passionately advised Stern to take that right away from NBA players because he thinks when they are armed they are nothing more than thugs.
Let’s get something straight. We all know the overwhelming majority of NBA players are black. So yeah, Schultz just said a segment of the black population shouldn’t be allowed to own guns. And those that do are in the thug business.
Ed Schultz from MSNBC basically went on a rant (below) about a “cultural issue” that he’s wanted to talk about for a long time. Now was his chance to talk about all those NBA thugs with guns. That is what he said!
Read his comments and watch the video below and let me know what you think.

Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Tuesday, January 5, The Ed Show, on MSNBC:
ED SCHULTZ: And in my “Playbook” tonight, this is a cultural issue that I`ve wanted to talk about for a long time, and now this comes up. Two Washington Wizards basketball players in the NBA – Gilbert Arenas and Jarvaris Crittenden – I`m sure they`re good guys. They`re being investigated by local and federal authorities after reports that they pulled handguns on each other in the Wizards` locker room.
Now, Arenas denies that happened. He did admit to storing several guns in the locker room, but he says that they were unloaded, and he did that so he could keep them away from his kids, and so they wouldn`t get a hold of them. And I understand that. But no word yet on penalties that these guys are going to be facing. The NBA, of course, bans players from bringing guns into basketball arenas or into the practice facility.
Wait, wait, wait. Schultz understands Arenas’ excuse for bringing guns into the locker room, even though there is a no guns policy, was so his kids didn’t get a hold of them? That’s not a believable excuse to any responsible gun owner, but I am glad Ed understands it. Whether or not it’s true, Schultz and Arenas both appear to be ignorant about gun safety. Put your guns in a gun safe and lock them in a room. I am sure NBA players can afford the best gun security that a person can buy. Any informed and responsible gun owner knows that bringing guns to their workplace, that prohibits guns, is not the answer.
SCHULTZ : Folks, that just doesn`t go far enough. Professional athletes in this country are viewed by impressionable kids as stars. That`s the life they want to live. They want to be just like them. They work hard because some day maybe they`ll get a chance to be a big-time basketball star in the NBA. With the visibility comes the responsibility. I`ve often wondered, why doesn`t David Stern, who`s been the commissioner of the NBA for a long time, just put his foot down and say, “If you want to play in our league, you can`t own firearms. We are in the image business. We`re not in the thug business. We`re in the business of making sure that we send a good message to the youth of this country”
And I`ll guarantee you that there’s probably some kid out there saying that, well, gosh, I can own a handgun because my favorite player on this NBA team does. That`s how kids think. And I think it’s a sad day when we have people in a position of responsibility who can make a difference and just pass the buck because they`re a good player and we`re really afraid to discipline these players. Telling them that they can`t bring it into the facility isn`t good enough. If you want to play in the NBA, you can`t own firearms because with the visibility comes the responsibility, and there’s a lot of people that look up to the players in the NBA. At least we want them to look up to the players in the NBA because the youth of America pays a lot of attention to them. Sad day for the league that they have to deal with this.
Liberals always use kids as their excuse. In this incident, Schultz and Arenas are both using kids as a shield to prove their point. But this story is not about kids, it’s about adults. Instead of wanting or expecting NBA players to be responsible with their guns, Schultz wants the NBA commissioner to simply take their guns away like he is their daddy. Does he want Stern to take away their knives, bats, and nail files too? Schultz didn’t say the NBA must enforce the ‘no guns in basketball arenas or into the practice facility’ rule that is already on the books. He didn’t say Stern should insist gun owners in the NBA take gun safety classes. He said nothing about being a responsible gun owner and adult. No, instead he did what a typical liberal does and assumed people (“thugs in the NBA”) can’t be trusted with guns. Schultz said –TAKE THEIR GUNS AWAY– leaving all NBA players, the majority which are black, defenseless.
If Schultz’s anti-gun and NBA comments don’t seem prejudiced enough to you just pretend Rush Limbaugh or someone on Fox News said it. Then you’ll get it.
