A police officer from the border town of Nogales, Arizona, was shot and killed Friday, with what law enforcement believe was an AK-47, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The suspect is believed to have car-jacked a vehicle before shooting the Nogales Police Department officer who pulled him over, the source said. The consensus among law enforcement at this time is that the suspect used an AK-47 to shoot the NPD officer, according to the source.
The suspect proceeded to steal at least two more vehicles and led multiple law enforcement agencies on an extended manhunt before he was captured Friday evening, the source said. READ MORE
A Nogales police officer was shot multiple times and killed Friday afternoon when he attempted to apprehend a carjacking suspect during a traffic stop, officials said.
It’s the first officer fatality in the city in nearly 129 years, underscoring the shock reverberating through this close-knit border community.
