The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is currently featuring an article on its website titled “The Border Is Secure. A Worker Shortage Means Our Economy Isn’t. Let’s Fix It.”

At the same time, the Chamber has filed a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s new $100,000 H-1B visa fee—a policy intended to reduce reliance on imported labor and encourage companies to hire qualified American workers.

That combination says a lot. The Chamber argues that America needs more foreign labor while it’s also suing to stop a policy designed to make hiring Americans more attractive. Many see that as proof the organization’s priorities have shifted from defending American businesses and workers to protecting large corporations dependent on global labor pipelines.
