Nordstrom’s “Shop With Purpose” Campaign Promotes Brands By Race And Ethnicity, Categorizing Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, And Latinx Subgroups

Nordstrom promotes “Shop with Purpose” and highlights brands founded by Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, and Latinx individuals, but excludes categories for White and Middle Eastern-founded brands. I’ve captured a screenshot of this campaign, as shown. This implies you cannot shop with purpose when buying from White and Middle Eastern owned brands. Nordstrom groups people by race and ethnicity, categorizing Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, and Latinx individuals based on their appearance.

Selling products based on race and ethnicity is discriminatory. No retailer serving the public should engage in such practices. This approach is neither acceptable nor justifiable.

What’s next, a “Shop with Purpose” campaign featuring every religion except Christianity and Islam?

I created a Nordstrom account and planned to spend a lot of money there, after stopping because they featured men dressed as women.

“Put your money where your mouth is.” Okay, I will. I like Dillard’s clothing and products better.
