Fake News Claims Democrats Will Lower Costs If Elected But Their Policies Will Raise Them

The 2026 Democratic election narrative is: Vote for Democrats because we will lower the cost of gas, groceries, insurance, housing, and everything else.

They will not.

Democratic policies always raise costs — they do not lower them.

On Jen Psaki’s show, Democratic pollster Fernand Amandi said Republicans have controlled Florida state government for 30 years, so “they can’t blame any Democrat for the problems in Florida.” He called the economic case against them “almost a slam dunk,” pointed to housing and insurance costs, and argued Democrats can put the governor’s mansion in play by blaming Republicans for those failures.

He went even further and claimed Republicans “have absolutely no answer” for the high costs.

Florida, he added, is critical nationally as the “head of the snake for MAGA.”

What Amandi completely ignores is that Florida is not cut off from the rest of the country — and that people are literally running to Florida.

During the Biden years, Democrats controlled federal immigration policy, pushed massive federal spending, raised taxes, imposed their energy agenda, and expanded regulations that affected businesses and consumers across the country. Those policies did not stop at the Florida border.

Floridians felt the same national inflation, unnecessary immigration costs, higher construction costs, energy pressures, and economic fallout everyone else did.

Florida also has unique costs from hurricanes, storm damage, rebuilding, and homeowners insurance.

And strong population growth has increased demand. People have been leaving high-tax, heavily regulated blue states like New York, California, and Illinois and moving to Florida for Republican policies: lower taxes, no state income tax, school choice, a friendlier business climate, and more freedom. If Republicans really had “absolutely no answer” and no plan, people would not be flooding into the state by the hundreds of thousands.

Democratic policies do the opposite and would make Florida’s cost and safety problems worse.

Start with illegal immigration. Democratic border policies produce record border encounters and enormous costs for shelter, healthcare, education, and the public systems forced to handle the large numbers of people who were released into the country.

States and local communities ultimately absorb many of those costs.

Hundreds of billions go toward supporting people here illegally while citizens face rising insurance and housing bills. Not to mention the horrible crimes committed by illegal aliens because of Democratic policies.

Not getting murdered or raped by an illegal alien is far more important than the price of gas. And Democrats won’t stop illegal immigration or lower the price of gas — they do the opposite.

Then there is energy.

Democrats restrict drilling, slow permits, and push costly green-energy mandates. Higher energy costs affect everything — trucking, food, construction, utilities, restaurants, and rebuilding after storms.

You cannot make energy more expensive and then pretend you have a plan to make everything else cheaper.

Electing more Democrats would not magically fix Florida’s cost-of-living problems. It would bring more spending, more regulation, higher taxes, weaker immigration enforcement, and energy policies that raise costs.

Amandi says Republicans “can’t blame any Democrat” because they have controlled Florida for 30 years, and he claims they have “absolutely no answer.”

But Republicans most certainly can blame Democrats.

Federal Democratic policies on immigration, energy, spending, and regulation affect every state — including Florida. Those policies don’t stop at the state line just because Republicans run Tallahassee.

And Republicans do have answers: lower taxes, no state income tax, school choice, less regulation, more freedom, secure the borders, and enforce immigration laws. That’s exactly why hundreds of thousands of people keep leaving blue states and moving to Florida.

If Democrats would get out of the way, those answers could work even better.

Democratic policies will not lower prices. They will raise them — through open borders, higher taxes, less oil production, higher energy costs, more regulation, and more spending.

With Democrats in charge, costs go up. Every time.
