Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan spent more than 30 seconds laughing on their podcast after Welch read a post that said, “We’re digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again.” The episode, titled “Drinking MAGA Tears,” aired the day after Democrats won the midterms. Both women dropped their heads and laughed hysterically. One of them said, “I’m zooming in for Fox,” before both said “no comment.”
They then claimed Kirk was shot by “a MAGA person.”
That claim is contradicted by the charging documents. Tyler Robinson’s mother told investigators that over the previous year her son had become more political, had shifted left, and had become more pro-gay and pro-trans rights. She said he and his father held sharply different political views.
Welch and Sullivan should explain exactly what they found funny. Charlie Kirk was 31 years old when he was shot in the neck in front of a crowd at Utah Valley University. Blood poured from the wound as he collapsed. He was a husband, a father, and someone’s son. What part of that death is funny? What is funny about the idea of digging up his body and “doing it again”?
I would not laugh about that for one second, even about someone whose politics I strongly disagreed with. Take Rob Reiner. On December 14, 2025, he and his wife Michele were stabbed to death in their own home. Their son was charged with the murders. Their daughter found them. That is a horrific tragedy. My political disagreements did not erase their humanity, and they do not make their deaths something to laugh about.
I feel sadness when I think about Reiner’s death. I feel sympathy for his family and friends. But these two don’t feel any of that for Charlie. They think it’s funny.
Both women are old enough to be his mother. After more than 50 years of life, they sat on a podcast and laughed for 30 seconds at the idea of digging up a man’s body and shooting him in the neck again. That is not politics. It is just who they are.
