Cooper’s characterization of Afrikaners as “the white minority who created the racist apartheid regime” oversimplifies history. Not all Afrikaners supported or participated in the regime, and many modern Afrikaners, including those seeking refugee status, were born after apartheid ended in 1994. Painting them collectively as responsible for apartheid is inaccurate and ignores the complexity of South African history.
