Man : Hey, Mercedes, your infection is getting worse. I have to call an ambulance.
Mercedes: No, please. I’m begging you.
Woman: We’ll alert the financial assistance program the second we admit you.
Mercedes: It’s not about the money.
Woman: If you don’t go, you could die.
Man: Okay, and we want to help you.
Mercedes: People saw immigration by the hospital. If I go, they could get me. My status was revoked a few months ago. And my friend’s brother. Last week ICE surrounded his car, broke all his windows, and dragged him on his feet, and we still don’t know where they took him.
Man: I’m so sorry.
Mercedes: Our whole life is here. My son’s school, his soccer team, our church. We can’t be taken away from that. I can’t be taken away from him.
Man: Hey, I know you’re scared, but you need more help than we can give you here.
Woman: And we will do everything we can to keep you safe. We will even drive you ourselves.
Mercedes: I can’t, it’s too risky. Please.
She’s a grown adult who came to the USA illegally or stayed in the USA illegally—now refusing life-saving care because she fears ICE more than death.
Grey’s Anatomy never shows the American families whose loved ones are killed, raped, molested, assaulted, tortured, or robbed by illegal aliens. No tear-jerking storylines for them—just silence.
