All In With Chris Hayes: Trump Creating A Dangerous, Volatile Situation For Soldiers & Civilians In D.C. — Claims They’re Not Trained For This

The on-screen headline read: D.C. Residents Overwhelmingly Oppose Trump Takeover.

Chris Hayes claimed Trump is creating “a high risk of something very awful going wrong.” A New York Times opinion columnist agreed, saying Trump is creating a “dangerous and volatile situation” for soldiers and civilians — and even claimed American service members are “not trained for this.”

Hayes added that “it’s not their job” and that it’s wrong to put them in that situation. But that’s flat-out false. American service members are trained for danger — it’s their job. From day one of basic training, they’re drilled in combat readiness. The Army and Marines receive extensive training for urban operations (MOUT) — securing streets, clearing buildings, running checkpoints, and operating in volatile city environments. The National Guard is specifically trained for riot control and civil unrest, with shields, formations, and crowd-control tactics, and they’ve been deployed repeatedly for exactly that — from the 1968 D.C. riots, to the 1992 L.A. riots, to the 2020 George Floyd riots, and even January 6.

Civilians and tourists in Democrat-run D.C., however, aren’t trained to dodge murders, carjackings, and riots while visiting the nation’s capital. And of course, MSNBC never shows the other side — the Americans who are sick of crime and want their capital city safe again.

The capital of the United States should be the safest city in the world — a shining place where law-abiding people walk freely without fear. After all, the President and Congress live and work there with the highest levels of protection. Shouldn’t everyday Americans deserve the same safety in their nation’s capital?
