Hayes: Trump Is Plotting And Ranting About Sabotaging Our Free And Fair Elections So He Can Rig It For Republicans

In his July 20, 2026 broadcast of All In, Chris Hayes wants his audience — which is hard to believe he still has — to think that Donald Trump, one of the hardest-working presidents in modern history, is “Sleepy Joe.”

He wants them to believe Trump is “sabotaging our free and fair elections.”

Hayes said:

“Now throughout all this, you’ve got the commander in chief. I don’t know what you’re gonna see. I mean, asleep at the wheel. Not always asleep. Sometimes he’s awake. And when he’s awake, he’s mostly plotting and ranting about sabotaging our free and fair elections so that he can rig it for the Republican Party, or alternately publicly obsessing over things like the font choice and the tiles for all his little redecorating projects.

“Trump transparently does not care and can’t even bother to pretend to anymore. That’s the reality.”

Notice he says “free and fair elections.” What does that even mean? Free for illegals to vote and fair to them? That is what it means. It sure as hell doesn’t mean secure and honest elections.

If basic steps like securing our elections, requiring photo ID, keeping noncitizens from voting, preventing foreign interference, mandating proof of citizenship to register, requiring states to regularly clean their voter rolls, and blocking federal funding for non-compliant states amount to “rigging elections for the Republican Party,” then so be it.

Those are common-sense safeguards.

Recent Department of Homeland Security data and state audits have exposed massive administrative vulnerabilities across the country.

According to preliminary federal data released by DHS, a review identifying potential noncitizens on voter rolls flagged over 250,000 individuals across California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada alone (approximately 190,832 in California, 35,152 in New Jersey, 15,903 in Nevada, and 14,576 in Pennsylvania). State audits and database cross-checks through the SAVE program have further revealed over 400,000 deceased individuals still listed on voter rolls, more than 28,000 additional potential noncitizens in participating states, tens of thousands of registrants with mismatched or missing Social Security numbers, duplicate registrations across state lines, and addresses tied to vacant lots, commercial buildings, and post office boxes — and that is just scratching the surface.

These figures are exactly why the federal government is actively pressuring states to audit their data, and why over 23 states are voluntarily using the federal SAVE program to address these exact problems.

It is also the driving force behind the legislative push for the SAVE America Act to firmly mandate proof of citizenship for federal voter registration.

That’s not sabotage. It’s responsible government.

But Chris Hayes won’t mention any of it.

Chris Hayes, the media, and the Democratic Party do not want secure elections — as evidenced by their consistent lack of reporting on election fraud and their relentless opposition to basic election-integrity measures.

That is the reality.
