MSNBC Worries About Trump’s Authorities, The Emotions He Stirs Up, & Says We Must Be Honest About It

Charlie Kirk’s assassination dominated headlines — and MSNBC of course brought on Benjamin J. Rhodes, a former Obama official, to fearmonger and shift the focus to Donald Trump. Rhodes warned about Trump’s supposed government overreach and the “emotions” he stirs up.

Rhodes said:

“We already have the United States military deployed in the streets of an American city, and getting ready to move into another one. Um, and so you, you worry about, frankly, you know kind of a government overreach here.”

Chris Hayes responded:

“Yeah.”

Rhodes continued:

“In terms of, um, what, what kind of authorities, uh, Donald Trump may claim in addition to, kind of what kind of emotions he’s stirring up. And so we just have to be honest that, that’s part of the dynamic here that is so worrying.”

That last line — “And so we just have to be honest that, that’s part of the dynamic here that is so worrying.” — is classic MSNBC spin. They redefine honesty as amplifying their own fear about Trump.

What’s really worrying isn’t Trump’s “dynamic” — it’s a media machine stacked with former Obama operatives and Democrats that turns every tragedy into another excuse to attack President Trump and Republicans.
