X started showing a “Boost” button next to some of my posts, so once again, I tried to boost one—the post below. X paused the boost, saying it didn’t meet their guidelines because of “Political advertising.” Paused is their word for refused.
The post features a video of the Homeland Security secretary’s remarks about voting machines, along with the transcript and my commentary. You can see the exact video and wording in the blog below. X won’t let me pay to promote it.
Every post I try to boost gets rejected these days. Before this, they would let me boost some posts, but those posts would get NO interaction, which made me question whether they were reaching as many people as X claimed. For a short time, my boosted posts reached the right audience, and I would get hundreds of likes, comments, and shares. But that didn’t last long.
I always say I’m never going to try to boost a post again. Then time passes, I try again, and the same thing happens: either the boost gets rejected or the post gets no interaction.
The message above says X sent me an email with more details. I checked my email, including spam, and I haven’t received it.
Freedom of speech isn’t free. And I can’t even pay to be heard on X.
Below is the exact text and video X would not let me pay to boost.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said during a July 17, 2026, news conference in Washington, D.C., that foreign adversaries have vital components in American voting machines and can access those systems.
“About our machines. We know for sure that our foreign adversaries, not our allies, foreign adversaries have parts that are vital pieces in our voting machines.
We know that they can access what they consider the key to the back of these machines. We know that they can change voter registration and your vote. We know it’s possible. There’s not a question. It’s not even for debate.
One thing that I love about numbers and I love about facts is they don’t lie. This isn’t something that I’m trying to tell you to spin a narrative. This is what is going on.”
Mullin made these statements in July. What has been done since then? If officials knew about this months before the election, were they monitoring these systems during the midterms to catch anyone trying to interfere?
