It’s frustrating to see the Senate vote 51-48 to terminate tariffs on Canada, especially when Canada has no issue imposing tariffs on U.S. goods. The article points out that Trump’s 25% tariffs were meant to address things like the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigration across the border—serious issues that affect us here. Yet, four Republicans joined Democrats to kill this, even though Canada’s been happy to slap tariffs on us without hesitation. Why is it okay for them to protect their interests, but when we try to do the same, it’s a problem? Seems like a double standard to me.
