The Psychic Who Gets Offered SNAP Benefits As Payment

I’m friends with a woman who works as a psychic for a living and meets all kinds of people. A surprising number of her clients are on SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as food stamps.

Here’s what’s wild: these same people can somehow afford to pay for regular psychic readings — week after week — yet claim they can’t afford food for themselves or their kids.

She works in a diverse community, and many of her clients are single mothers who receive SNAP benefits. One woman with six children gets about $1,750 a month — nearly $21,000 a year just for groceries — not including the additional money she receives for herself.

And when they run out of cash? They offer their psychic food — literally groceries purchased with SNAP benefits — as a form of payment. She always says no, of course. But the fact that anyone even offers it says everything about how warped the system has become.

SNAP was meant to feed families in need — not bankroll side hobbies and entertainment.

It’s a glimpse into why America’s welfare programs are so broken: too little accountability, too much entitlement, and zero shame.
