USA Today Claims: No Scientific Evidence That Transgender Women Athletes Have A Physical Advantage Over Cisgender Women Athletes

A cisgender woman is a biological female, born with female anatomy and chromosomes (XX), whose gender identity aligns with her sex at birth.

Nancy Armour wrote in USA Today:

There is no scientific evidence that transgender women athletes have a physical advantage over cisgender women athletes, but that hasn’t stopped Gaines from claiming they do. She insists they are “robbing” cisgender women of places on the podium, and she doesn’t care if it’s a 12- or 22-year-old that she’s putting in harm’s way in this overheated climate where ignorance and violence are celebrated equally.

Gaines has publicly lobbied for Biles and Caitlin Clark to support her in her hate which, again, is a laughable idea to anyone who has followed Biles’ illustrious career.

Is Nancy Armour stupid? She clearly has never played sports against boys, male teens, or men. As a cisgender woman, I played half-court basketball against teenage boys during high school. If we had played full court, many of them likely would have outrun me—not because I was short or weak, but because their male physiology, including greater muscle mass and testosterone-driven strength, gave them a clear edge. They outmuscled me, knocked me down, and caused injuries. These teen males had to hold back when I got hurt to avoid getting in trouble. While I could score on them and block shots, their frustration often led to rougher play. I cannot recall ever injuring them, yet I frequently left those games bruised and scratched from getting knocked onto the driveway by them.

Armour’s assertion that there is “no scientific evidence” of a physical advantage is false. Numerous studies demonstrate that biological males, including transgender women who have undergone hormone therapy, often retain significant advantages in strength, speed, and muscle mass compared to biological females. For example, a 2020 study published in Sports Medicine found that even after two years of hormone suppression, transgender women maintained higher muscle mass and strength than cisgender women. Another study from 2021 in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism showed that testosterone suppression does not fully eliminate the skeletal and muscular advantages developed during male puberty. These findings align with observable differences in athletic performance, such as faster sprint times and greater lifting capacity, which persist in transgender women athletes.

My personal experience reinforces this science. The physicality of males—driven by biological factors like higher testosterone levels and denser bone structure—was overwhelming. To dismiss these differences ignores both empirical data and the lived realities of cisgender women athletes who face unfair disadvantages when competing against transgender women who retain male physiological traits.

The liberal media, including outlets like USA Today, fail to investigate anything! Instead of engaging with peer-reviewed research or consulting athletes with direct experience, they promote narratives that downplay biological realities. This undermines fair and safe competition for cisgender women, whose opportunities and safety in sports deserve protection.
