Violent Crime Rates Are Dropping In America’s Major Cities — Thank You, President Trump

A new Axios report shows violent crime falling sharply across many of America’s largest cities and counties.

According to data from the Major Cities Chiefs Association, homicide rates during the first three months of 2026 dropped dramatically compared to the same period in 2025.

Some of the biggest declines include:

  • Baltimore County, MD: -83.3%
  • Suffolk County, NY: -72.7%
  • Omaha, NE: -71.4%
  • Buffalo, NY: -70%
  • Aurora, CO and Newark, NJ: -66.7%
  • Washington, D.C.: -64.7%

With the November midterm elections fast approaching, this dramatic drop in violent crime makes it clear why Republicans must keep control of the House and Senate.

Democrat policies — defund-the-police initiatives, soft-on-crime reforms, cashless bail, reduced prosecutions, sanctuary city protections, slashed police budgets, progressive district attorneys who prioritize criminals over victims, restrictions on police tactics, decriminalizing theft and shoplifting, early release of violent offenders, limits on qualified immunity, “equity”-based policing that ties officers’ hands, and open borders — fuel rising violence in cities across America. The huge decline we’re now seeing demonstrates that different policies produce dramatically better results for public safety.

Under President Trump and Republican leadership, America is safer by backing the police, securing the border, ending catch-and-release, removing criminal illegal immigrants, restoring law and order in cities, and rejecting soft-on-crime policies. These steps are delivering real results and making America’s cities safer again.

To continue this progress, voters must re-elect Republicans and keep the House and Senate under GOP control in November. If Democrats win Congress, the failed policies will return — and countless more Americans will be murdered, raped, molested, robbed, assaulted, and victimized.
