In the early 2000s, while serving as a state senator in Illinois, Barack Obama voted multiple times (2001–2003) against the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act.
These bills said that if a baby survived an abortion attempt — breathing or showing signs of life — doctors must provide medical care instead of leaving the infant to die.
Obama argued that the bills were a backdoor way to undermine Roe v. Wade, because recognizing the infant as a “person” with legal rights could threaten broader abortion protections.
Obama doubled down as president. He still believed protecting babies born alive after failed abortions threatened “abortion rights.” That’s how extreme he is.
