X Rejected 85 Of My Promoted Posts In One Year

On April 20, I promoted the post above. X made it look like the promotion was running, but it only reached 22 people — most of those views were me. X counts me almost every time I scroll past a post.

On April 21, the promoted post expired, showing just 26 views. Again, nearly all of them were me.

When I went to my Advertising dashboard, the ad was listed as “halted.” I appealed it.

 

 

I checked my bank account to confirm I wasn’t charged. I wasn’t.

In the past year, I have contacted X support countless times about my ads never running. Each time they reply with the same scripted response that no policy violations were found so the ad should start soon. But they never do.

Since returning to X, the Promote button has been missing from my account most of the time. I have been able to promote posts for a few months. X claimed they reached thousands or tens of thousands of people. Yet many of those posts received little to no likes, shares, or comments. That makes it hard to believe the posts were actually reaching people, or at least the right audience. But some did reach the right people and got a lot of likes, shares, and comments.

Under Jack Dorsey, for a brief period, my promotions actually worked. They reached the right audience, and every promoted post got hundreds of likes, dozens of shares, and many comments. Then it stopped, and I was told I wasn’t allowed to advertise.

X clearly knows how to push posts to the right people when it wants to. But they refuse to do it for me.

My account is heavily shadowbanned and censored. Every single thing I post gets no reach. And I’m not even allowed to pay for it.

Below are screenshots from five pages of my failed promotion attempts. Almost every single one says “expired.” Some I paused. To see which ones were also “halted,” I have to check another section.

I can’t believe I’ve tried to pay to promote posts this many times since I was let back on. But I did. There are 365 days in a year, so when you look at it that way.

This proves that X will not let me pay for reach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

On April 22 (around 6 a.m.), I messaged X support about my latest failed promotion. They replied with the usual automated-sounding message: “Great news, your ads have been successfully reviewed, and no policy violations were found! You should start seeing them serving soon.”

 

 

I filled out their form. Shortly after, I received an email saying my ad was approved and is now visible. I’ve heard this so many times, but they never get promoted.

 

 

I looked at my Ads dashboard. The campaign still shows $0.00 dollars (even though I set a $25 budget for one day). It’s clearly not running.

 

 

 

Next, I replied to support with a direct link to the post they claimed was running and visible to my target audience, to show them it was not running.

They sent the odd response below.

 

 

Oh, thank you X. That helped me so much.

I’m once again wasting hours dealing with this. But I’m not dropping it like I always do. I will keep trying until I can successfully pay to promote my posts. Or for them to admit that I am not allowed to promote my posts on X and tell me why.

All I want is to be treated equally. X takes my money for Premium+, but treats me worse than unpaid users.

The way X censors my page and denies me paid reach is essentially a ban.

On April 22, I sent them another message and link to the post I am trying to promote. Below was their response.

 

 

I filled out the form to connect with an X Ads Specialist, but I have not heard back from them. And I do not have a dedicated Account Manager.

I sent X another message explaining that the post they said would serve soon was actually halted and expired by them. Because of this, I do not think it will start soon.

I have gone through this same situation many times with X. I always end up quitting because they’re wasting my time. I can’t get any real help.

Then I got his message.

 

 

I did see the ad serve after I promoted it. The post said “promotion running,” and X kept telling me my ad was running. Then it expired with only 26 views.

X said, when a promotion is running, I should contact support while it’s live and tell them it’s not actually serving so they can debug it. I’ve contacted them many times before when ads were running, and they just told me the ad was running and that I should wait. So I waited… and the ad expired.

Hence and apologies. Who talks like that? This must be the apologetic bot. The bot said all my ads expired. Yes, but most of them never ran. So I checked all my expired ads and did more research. I counted 15 ads that ran. I also saw a lot of halted ads. So about 85 of my expired ads never ran.

Then I got another message. It said:

Well, the human reviewers didn’t let them run. X keeps saying the ad is running, but the ad no longer says it’s running. Whenever I have promoted a post in the past, it says the ad is running. This one does not. The views have increased by 23, but they are counting my views and X’s views, and we keep passing the link back and forth.

I only promoted the post for 24 hours, $25 for one day. It has been 3 days. But they keep telling me it’s serving as intended.

Below is what the post looks like right now. Does it look like it is running? The promote button is there on the top right. If it was running, that would not be there, and the bottom of the post would say it is running.
