A 27-year-old Mexican national who is in the United States illegally is accused of grabbing a Dallas Independent School District police officer’s service weapon and shooting him in the leg during a struggle on August 6, according to an arrest affidavit and law enforcement officials.
These are the types of immigrants Democrats allow into the USA. And they don’t want to deport them until they shoot, murder, rape, molest, rob, assault, or commit other crimes.
The corporate, liberal, and public news media will ignore this news because they refuse to report on illegal alien crime.
Jose Santiago Pantoja Morales faces a charge of aggravated assault on a public servant. He is being held on a $500,000 bond and is subject to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer. ICE has stated it is working to ensure his deportation.
The incident began around 10:39 a.m. when Dallas ISD Officer Justin Jones, 39, a 16-year veteran assigned to W.T. White High School, was flagged down while on routine patrol near the LBJ Freeway (Interstate 635) and Midway Road in Far North Dallas.
A man identifying himself as Morales’ coworker told Jones that Morales had gotten out of a vehicle and was walking in the center median of the freeway.
Jones located Morales walking along the median. Morales willingly entered the backseat of Jones’ patrol vehicle.
Jones then drove him a short distance to the parking area between a Walmart and Sam’s Club near the 4100 block of Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, intending to drop him off safely as a public-service assist.
According to the affidavit, Jones stopped the vehicle after noticing Morales pulling items from the officer’s work bag.
Jones removed Morales from the backseat and attempted to turn him to face the patrol car. A struggle ensued on the ground.
Morales gained control of Jones’ gun and fired one shot, striking the officer in the right leg and hitting the femoral artery.
Morales fled on foot. He was arrested about a mile away in the 400 block of High Summit Drive after a brief chase.
Officers noted blood on his boots and shirt. Morales later admitted to taking the gun and shooting the officer “so he could get away,” the affidavit states.
Jones received a tourniquet from another Dallas ISD officer and an on-scene blood transfusion from Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel before being transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital for surgery.
Officials have said he remains in stable condition and is expected to recover.
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed to media outlets that Morales is in the country illegally.
The Mexican national told authorities he last entered the United States by crossing the border near Eagle Pass, Texas, approximately four years earlier.
In a statement posted on X the Department of Homeland Security said: “This illegal alien stole Dallas Police Officer Justin Jones’ gun and SHOT him in the leg. ICE is working to ensure Jose Santiago Pantoja Morales, who entered our nation through Biden Administration’s open border, is DEPORTED from our nation. Our prayers are with Officer Jones as he recovers from this shooting.”
Dallas ISD officials expressed gratitude for Jones’ stable condition and asked for continued prayers for the officer and his family.
