Chris Hayes Calls Trump’s $10B IRS Lawsuit The “Greatest Heist In American History” That Could Nearly Triple His Net Worth

On May 13, 2026, on MS NOW’s All In with Chris Hayes, Hayes began his show—as usual—complaining about President Donald Trump.

As is typical for his fake news show, the clear goal is not to report news, but to demonize Trump and push more anti-Trump propaganda. Chris Hayes should rename the program “All In on Donald Trump.”

Fake news Democratic propagandist Chris Hayes barely criticized Biden during his 35 years in Congress, 8 years as Vice President, or 4 years as President. The few times he did speak negatively about Biden were rare, mild, and never reached the level of nonstop outrage and corruption accusations he directs at Trump every night. Yet Joe Biden was one of the most corrupt politicians America has ever had.

President Trump filed a lawsuit against the IRS after a government contractor illegally leaked his private tax returns. The contractor, Charles Littlejohn, was later convicted and sent to prison for the crime. The lawsuit seeks damages for the serious breach of privacy and the political impact during the 2020 campaign.

President Trump has repeatedly promised he will donate 100% of any money received to charity and says he personally does not want the money. So how can it “nearly triple his net worth,” Chris?

Chris Hayes said:

It is hard, dear viewer, to keep track of the very, very long list of shady deals and no bid contracts and outright corrupt crypto schemes that have been the hallmark of the presidency of Donald Trump, particularly this second version of it. But I ask you tonight to pay attention to the one that he appears to be about to pull off, because it’s gotta be the greatest heist in American history. A direct transfer of billions of your taxpayer dollars directly into the bank account and the pockets of Donald Trump. All dressed up as a settlement of a lawsuit in which Donald Trump is both the plaintiff and also the defendant. It would be a maneuver that could nearly triple his net worth.

It is flying under the radar as Trump landed in China today with great fanfare with a delegation of, oh look, billionaires and family members in tow, the chosen MAGA elites looking for overseas deals. All of this happening as the Trump administration is literally making your life harder and more expensive with wars and tariffs, but none of that has stopped Trump from trying to get his hands on more of your money.

The New York Times, citing three people familiar, reports that in the coming days, Trump’s Department of Justice may pay out $10 billion or more to Donald Trump to settle his lawsuit against the IRS. Trump filed that suit back in January, saying the agency should have done more to prevent the leak of his tax returns during the 2020 presidential campaign. The president in effect sued himself for more than $10 billion, or he sued the government he controls. $10 billion, by the way, is nearly the entire annual IRS budget. And those dollars that paid out would come from the US Treasury, which he also oversees.

Now this is so novel. I don’t really know how you characterize it legally. Like we’re out past the frontier, whether legal or not. I am of the strong opinion, and I think many would be also, that this is an attempt at the largest theft ever by an American politician plainly, flagrantly, blatantly in plain daylight. It is a conflict of interest so enormous the term itself conflict of interest hardly begins to capture what’s happening.

Hayes briefly acknowledged that Trump has said he would donate any payout to charity, but then called him a liar who doesn’t keep his promises. And he spent time on his show trying to convince viewers that Trump could not be trusted.

Chris Hayes isn’t a journalist — he’s just another angry, bitter Trump-hater using his platform to spread his own opinions and read straight from left-wing news sources. He belongs on a podcast, not hosting a national “news show.”

It is hard, dear viewer, to keep track of the very, very long list of times Chris Hayes has been wrong or wildly biased — like relentlessly pushing the Russia collusion narrative, hyping endless “bombshells” that went nowhere, and treating every Trump story as the end of democracy while giving Democrats a complete pass.

Maybe one day Hayes will get tired of his own long list of failed predictions and fake news and try actual journalism instead.

I highly doubt it because real journalism doesn’t pay like Democrat propaganda does.

  1. That charity the president mentioned should go directly to Americans who need help.
