D.C. Grandmother Who Lost Grandson To Violence: Thank God For This President

At a Black History Month reception in Washington, D.C., Forlesia Cook — a lifelong resident who lost her grandson to violence in 2017 — delivered an emotional message praising President Donald Trump. It wasn’t what the political establishment expected.

She expressed gratitude for Trump’s leadership, telling the audience: “Thank God for this President.”

Cook said she marched and rallied but “nobody heard me… Democrats,” she added, “until this Republican sent his people out there to interview me in my home.”

She went on to praise Trump’s response to crime in the District, saying she wanted the National Guard brought in and that he delivered: “We need National Guard and he brought it on. I love him.” Cook also pushed back on criticisms of Trump, saying she didn’t want to hear “that racist stuff,” and urging people not to “hate” on her for supporting him: “Get off the man’s back. Let him do his job. He’s doing the right thing.”

Cook’s remarks challenged the assumptions that minority communities automatically oppose tougher law-and-order policies, don’t support Republicans, and the claims that Trump is a racist. That’s exactly why you won’t see this video promoted by the fake news.
