Abdul El-Sayed has made it clear he wants Medicare for All. He co-authored the 2021 book Medicare for All: A Citizen’s Guide. It is one of the central pillars of his 2026 U.S. Senate campaign. He has publicly said he would co-sponsor and vote for Bernie Sanders-style Medicare for All legislation, and he continues to call for a government-run single-payer system that covers every American with no premiums, deductibles, or co-pays.
He also supports taxpayer-funded sex changes for kids (with parental approval).
In his interview with Jesse Watters, below, he dodges the direct question about sex changes for minors. But we already know what he thinks.
“I just think the government shouldn’t tell you what kind of health care you should have… health care decisions need to be made by a doctor and their parents and a patient.”
El-Sayed claims he doesn’t want the government deciding healthcare… while he supports Medicare for All.
Medicare for All is a single-payer system in which the government becomes the sole payer. It decides what treatments are covered, sets the prices, writes the rules for who qualifies, and controls the budget. That means the government — not you, your doctor, or your parents — ultimately decides what care Americans can and cannot get, including whether to fund irreversible sex changes on kids.
El-Sayed is trying to hold two opposite positions at the same time:
- He says the government should stay out of healthcare decisions — that only parents, doctors, and patients should decide (including whether a minor gets a sex change).
- At the same time he supports Medicare for All, a system in which the government becomes the single payer and therefore does decide what care is covered, who gets it, and how much is spent.
He can’t have it both ways.
When pressed about child sex changes, he compared irreversible sex changes on kids to circumcision — a one-time procedure with documented health benefits like fewer urinary tract infections, lower risk of certain STIs including HIV, reduced penile cancer, and better hygiene. That’s a ridiculously stupid comparison, especially coming from someone who calls himself a doctor.
While he holds an MD and can be called “Dr.,” he is not a real practicing doctor with patients. He never obtained a medical license and his only clinical experience was a short medical-school rotation.
He should know that circumcision doesn’t sterilize kids, doesn’t require lifelong hormones, doesn’t disrupt normal puberty, and doesn’t create permanent medical dependence that many later regret.
