Haley Stevens Joins State Rep. Karen Whitsett In Endorsing Mike Rogers Over Abdul El-Sayed

Michigan State Rep. Karen Whitsett and U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens have both thrown their support behind Republican Mike Rogers over Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed in the race to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Gary Peters.

Whitsett, who was elected as a Democrat but announced her departure from the party earlier this year, publicly backed Rogers on August 20, 2026, during an event launching the “Democrats for Rogers” coalition in Detroit.

She criticized Abdul El-Sayed’s Medicare for All proposal, arguing that it would give the federal government too much control over people’s healthcare decisions.

Stevens announced her endorsement of Rogers on Sunday, November 1, after saying she was no longer welcome in El-Sayed’s campaign.
