A man in full cycling gear jumped into the newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and deliberately cut and ripped out a huge chunk of the fresh “American flag blue” sealant while National Park Service workers were treating algae right there on site.
He was caught on video, witnessed by staff, and arrested on the spot by U.S. Park Police.
Yet here’s how the media spun it:
Washington Post: Runs the photo of the floating blue piece with the headline, “The blue paint is peeling off the Reflecting Pool.”
Reuters: “The paint is already peeling in Trump’s renovated Washington Reflecting Pool.”
Both outlets frame confirmed vandalism as a ‘renovation failure’ — and you have to pay to read WaPo’s spin.
This is textbook fake news: turning a deliberate act of sabotage into proof that Trump’s project was botched.
Repairs are underway.
